While I've tried a few different music players on the various smartphones I've owned since first buying a HTC Desire HD, I've always returned to WinAmp - a player I've used on various PCs I've owned and used since first year in college.
However, recently it refused to open, and I had to trial other players, none of which I found as good.
Fortunately it seems my plight is not unique, and at least three other users on the winamp forum had the same issue, and it has a simple solution - enable Airplane mode, then open the WinAmp app, and disable lyrics mode, then resume playback!
