KDE Dolphin - the process for the mtp protocol died suddenly

Suddenly started getting this error in Dolphin on my kubuntu 13.10 machine when connecting my Samsung Galaxy S3 - "the process for the mtp protocol died suddenly" A quick google gave this result - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1242357 - with the same error message, however the solution to disable USB debugging did not work, as it was already disabled. However, disabling developer options completely solved the problem. The only issue now is - what do I do when I'm developing an app and want to deploy it to my phone?
